Treasurer’s Report:

• Ending balance $7,120.43
  • Dues and donations received in May = $815.44
  • $250 donation in June to Brookland Middle School Career Fair
• Treasurer’s report accepted (Motion: Steve Farole; Second: Ed Kent)

Presentation on Invasive Plant Species

• Liz Crafford – Geologist and part of Shepherd Park Weed Warriors
  • Local groups and resources dedicated to removing invasive species
    • Rock Creek Conservancy
    • Nuts for Natives
    • Mid-Atlantic Invaders Tool
    • Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center
    • Detailed effects of invasive species
    • Instructions on removal and mitigation
      • Ivy: sever vines near the ground and remove a large section
    • Encourages all to take the Weed Warrior training. Should be available again in the fall.
  • John Boland – Casey Trees
    • Management practices
      • English Ivy
        • Evergreen with waxy triangle star leaves
        • Easier to identify and remove in winter
        • Cut about 1 – 3 inches of section out of each piece
      • Honeysuckle
        • Large bush, white flower, grooved bark
        • Remove with lopping shears
    • Casey Trees looking into forming a Stewardship program
    • Reminder about BNCA Ft. Bunker Hill clean up twice a year
      • Partnership with National Park Service
      • Pick up trash and remove invasive species
