Kim Prothro Williams, Architectural Historian with the DC Office of Planning’s Historic Preservation Office, will present the newly developed Brookland Neighborhood History StoryMap — an engaging digital experience that brings our community’s history to life through historic photographs, maps, charts, and storytelling. Learn how Brookland evolved from a rural crossroads into one of Washington’s most distinctive neighborhoods and discover the people, places, and events that shaped our community.
Kim is one of the District’s leading preservation professionals, with extensive experience researching, documenting, and interpreting Washington’s historic buildings, neighborhoods, and cultural landscapes. Her work has helped preserve and share the stories of communities across the District, making history accessible and relevant to residents today.
Whether you’re a longtime resident, a newcomer, or simply curious about Brookland’s rich heritage, this promises to be an informative and engaging evening.
The Brookland Neighborhood Civic Association (BNCA) holds general membership meetings once per month, on the third Tuesday of the month — except in August, November, and December.
In August and December we take a break from regular meetings. In November, we hold our regular meeting on the second Tuesday of the month. Sometimes our meetings are in person, other times over Zoom.
You do not need an account or the Zoom app to join a Zoom meeting. We have taken some precautions, however, due to security concerns with online meeting platforms. If you did not receive the meeting information to join or you need help joining, please contact us.
In general, we will record our meetings. If not, our recording secretary will take minutes and those will be posted to the website. All participants will be muted except when speaking to avoid disturbances.
