- LCM High School, also known as an “Opportunity Academy,” is one of three alternative High Schools in DC
- Serves over-age and under-credited students from all over the city
- Students have individualized plans tailored to their needs and schedules
- Poor attendance at other schools is often the reason students are enrolled at LCM; however, the issue continues to be a challenge at PCM
- The school seeks individuals and organizations to provide internship, mentoring and shadowing opportunities. Volunteers must be cleared via DC govt background check
- Principal Wormsley wants the community to understand the mission of the school and to dispel myths about alternative high schools.
- He invited the community to tour the facility and meet the faculty and students. Fridays at 1:15-2:05 pm (the “Power Hour”) is a good time for a visit. The BNCA and Commissioner Amin will schedule a visit in the near future.
