Treasurer’s Report
- Ending balance at 3/31/23 = $6,107.04
- ~$200 in expenses for hosting services and Zoom account renewal
- Brought in $120 in donations
- Motion to approve the report = Fred Jackson
- Second = Rene McCray
- None opposed. Motion passed.
- President Kathy Jacquart noted that we may have a large upcoming expense to replace the bulletin board at 12th and Newton
Councilmember Parker’s Office
- 2024 Budget committee markup hearing
- Gun prevention legislation introduced by ZP
- Would empower AG and district residents to sue firearm manufacturers for harm
- Friday April 21st Community Walk beginning in Truxton at 9 am
- Traffic Safety walk taking place on Thursday April 20th along South Dakota and RIA at 10 am
- Community cleanup in the Brookland are Sunday April 23 at 9 and 10 am
- Meet at 10th and Sheppard
Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton
- Top priority is defending DC Home Rule
- Wants to stop Congress from the new trend of interfering with DC matters
- DC Statehood also a top priority for this reason
- Introducing bill to allow DC appointees to begin serving if no disapproval resolution is submitted after 30 days
- As opposed to needing specific approval
