Upcoming Film Screening: BLAHC
October 15, 2019
A new and original film about Brookland will be screened with a panel discussion to follow. The film is about the Brookland Literary and Hunting Club (BLAHC), a black men’s social organization formed in Brookland during the era of segregation. The regularly scheduled BNCA meeting will be at Eaton Workshop instead of DCTV, so that our members can join this event.
The event is from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Eaton Workshop, 1201 K Street NW, in downtown DC. There will be a cash bar and food available. You must register for the event.
This is a great opportunity to learn more of the lore of Brookland history, meet and mingle with neighbors, and engage with the filmmakers as well as the BLAHC club members who have made such a great contribution to our community. This project has been supported by the BNCA for a couple years, and was featured last year in a Washington Post article.
There is also a Facebook Page about the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/357762195106870/
The Brookland Neighborhood Civic Association (BNCA) holds general membership meetings once per month, on the third Tuesday of the month — except in August and December. We usually meet at DCTV headquarters, at the Brooks Mansion, just outside the Brookland Metro Station.
