Presentation by Mamadou Keita, Creative Outreach Director, DC Tutoring and Mentoring Initiative (www.dctutormentor.org)
- DCTMI is a local nonprofit whose goal is to connect volunteers who want to mentor and tutor with organizations that help youth throughout the city who need extra support.
- Volunteers are expected to commit to 1-2 hrs a week, ideally for at least a year
- DCMTI conducts outreach in communities and info sessions in neighborhoods

- Reading Partners
- College Bound – mentoring, SAT prep, help with homework; need Associates or Bachelor

Announcements by Melissa Littlepage, Councilmember Parker’s Office
- Councilmember Parker supported the City Council’s appointment of Doni Crawford to the interim at-large council member seat vacated by Kenyan McDuffie who will run for Mayor.
- There will be a special election in June for the Council Member’s seat and a general election in November
- DDOT NOI Portal (where you can directly submit comments in support or opposition of All-Way Stop Control at 12th St and Evarts St NE)
- BNCA members asked about a 4-way stop 13th and Newton were referred to the DDOT traffic safety inputs website
- Register for the next DPR Ward 5 Construction Updates Meeting (February 5 at 6pm)
- Submit written testimony in support of “Ralph J. Bunche Way” at 1500 Jackson St NE

BNCA Treasurer’s Report by Josh Bercu, BNCA Treasurer
- End of 2025 balance: $8783.40
- Revenue up approximately 7% from last year
Vision 2050 Presentation by Nick Kushner, DC 2050 Project Manager, DC Office of Planning
- Mr. Kushner explained that the Comprehensive Plan sets long range blueprint for DC about what’s allowed where and that city zoning must be consistent with plan.
- The current plan was drafted in 2006 and amended in 2011 and 2021. A lot has changed in DC since 2006.
- The Office of Planning is developing a new plan – Vision 2050 – and seeking community input.
- Virtual workshop online
- Soliciting feedback through Jan 31
- Solicit input from young people through visits to high schools and DPR programs.
- Public workshops will be held in March to present a growth strategy

- Once developed, the City Council will vote on the plan as legislation
- Office of Planning will be working through ANCs to have broader conversations with communities once they have developed land use policies – in the Fall
- BNCA members expressed interest in organizing more conversations to help shape the plan.
